Agile requirements – an oxymoron?

The presentation title is reflecting something that has become a myth: that agile methodologies and traditional requirements engineering would be something at the opposite ends. In this presentation we explore this myth and see what’s behind it. At least there is a lot of misconception and historic distortion.

The scope is systems engineering instead of just software development, which both requirements engineering and agile have their roots in. Pasi has a practical approach in requirements engineering, which is strongly present in the classroom courses he gives and also in this presentation. His long experience and working with the leading Nordic technology companies offers unique visibility, how systems engineering and agile are applied in real life projects.

The takeaways of this presentation are some principles and tips which systems engineers can learn from the world of agile. We also get to understand the reasons, why sometimes there are clashes between systems engineers and “agilist” software engineers.
